Edmundbyers Youth Hostel

Edmundbyers Youth Hostel

Located: Campsites in Consett, Durham

Pocket-friendly holidays paired with excellent accommodation are a traveller’s dream, and the team at Edmundbyers Youth Hostel have all the right ingredients for a peaceful stay. The hostel is now under the ownership of a local farming family and rests on the fringes of the Edmundbyers Conservation area. Camping pitches are set in the spacious rear garden, with access provided to the communal hostel facilities. Guests who are too posh to pitch up can stay in the 400-year old building, complete with wooden beams and a crackling open fire for a cosy feel. There is a self-catering kitchen for making tasty snacks and light meals. If you feel too tuckered out after a day of adventure, revive yourself at the in-house bar serving locally brewed beers and a wide range of drinks. Guests who expect to feel entirely exhausted at the end of an active day or prefer someone else to do the cooking can order breakfast and other meals in advance. There are three friendly pubs within easy reach for well-earned pints and delicious, homemade grub. Less active campers are welcome to sit back with a drink from the bar and soak in the spectacular sceneries from the walled garden over Edmundbyers Muggleswick Commons while listening to the wildlife in the surrounding moorlands. Sorry, no pets allowed.
