Coalbeck Caravan Park is a small, friendly secluded campsite, affording stunning views over the beautiful Lake District. The park enjoys a convenient location just a five-minute drive from Bassenthwaite Lake, plus fifteen minutes from the ancient market town of Cockermouth and the buzzing town of Keswick which is a major centre for tourism in the north lakes. Bassenthwaite Lake offers much in the way of open-air pursuits. The lake is well-known for its warmer waters, and there is little less traffic on the gleaming waters, making it an excellent spot for hours of wild swimming. Tackle a hike up Skiddaw, one of the most accessible fells in the lakes. Enjoy tours at the latest distilleries in the area and sample exquisite Scotch whiskey and gins. Birdlife enthusiasts can spot rare ospreys in Dodd Wood, and food enthusiasts have access to a wealth of lovely spots by the lake to spread out a blanket and enjoy a picnic. Keswick is an excellent centre-point for exploring the nearby valleys of Borrowdale and Buttermere and offers visitors a wealth of scenic walking trails and easy access to the island-studded sparkling Lake of Derwentwater. Stock up on meats and other barbeque bits before you mosey back to base, and settle in for a sunset barbeque.
