The Merry Harriers is a peaceful, well-equipped shepherds hut placed beside a gleaming pond, on the grounds of a 16th-century pub where crackling fires, welly boots and muddy paws are the orders of the day. The site rests in the quiet village of Hambledon, where horses lazily plod along the main street. The A3 is a few miles away as are the Witley and Milford railway stations. The Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is an outdoor adventurer’s paradise and provides guests with mile upon mile of scenic walking and cycling trails. Not only are guests ideally located for outdoorsy ambles, but a 16th-century pub on-site also does away with the usual stress of whipping up meals after tiring days of adventure. A quick stroll and you’re right in the warm, cosy pub where dozing spaniels curl up by the fireplace and fireside chats are encouraged by the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The kids (and countless adults) will be quite keen to amble alongside furry llamas. Ask the pub to prepare a picnic for you and head out for a trek on the Greensand Way. There is a group of the furry creatures on-site, and the munchkins will have heaps of fun trying to befriend the lot before its time to head home. The Shepherd’s huts serve as a welcoming retreat from a busy day of activity and feature a range of mod cons including firepits for summer nights of alfresco eats, underfloor heating, a fridge for keeping wine chilled and a log burner for the colder months.
