As the only campsite in the Galloway Forest Park, Glentrool Camping and Caravan Site is a remote, serene spot to rest and relax after an eventful day of uncovering the rugged, mist-clad landscapes that shelter a variety of flora and fauna. The park itself is a stargazer’s haven and one of the best spots in Europe and the UK to sit back and enjoy the delights of a sparkling canopy of stars. The quirk, the small site is an eight-minute trot away from the nearest pub. It is a picturesque setting for human and canine to enjoy extensive, lush landscapes and heaps of space to wander around and uncover hidden charms and curious critters. Spread out a blanket by the picturesque pond on-site and catch up on your holiday reading, or sit back and enjoy the serene settings. Let the kids feed the wily, yet cute Shetland ponies roaming around the campsite, or take them into the forest park to spot and observe a wide range of wildlife and birdlife. Miles and miles of serene walking and hiking trails are sure to bring joy to the avid outdoor adventurer’s heart. The site accommodates fourteen generous hardstanding pitches, each with electric hookups while the tent area offers eight electric hookups. Shared facilities include a toilet block, hot showers, washing up room, drinking water, laundry, chemical disposal, Wi-Fi access and disabled-friendly features.
