Stocking Farm

Leave behind the incessant need for screen time, the blare of traffic, and the complexities of everyday life for the lush greenery of England’s famed romantic countryside. The quiet site rests in a lovely, leafy area, close to the gleaming waters of a snaking river, offering guests the freedom to slip on their walking shoes and explore a wealth of scenic walks right from the site. Campers can enjoy easy access to the grindstone escarpment of Froggatt Edge and a public footpath that cuts across the campsite. A five-mile amble along the pathway in one direction meanders through fields and woodlands, by a river, ending at the large and busy village of Hathersage, which holds a wealth of local facilities like pubs, cafes and restaurants. Campers can also use the village as a base for exploring the Hope Valley on foot or via car. Follow the public footpath in the opposite direction to reach Baslow and Chatsworth Park. The site also holds a private stretch of the sparkling River Derwent and permits fly fishing with the proper license for purchase at the campsite. Those who wish to secure a Day ticket must show a current fishing license. No more than two permits a day are available for all campers. Communal amenities are limited to the essentials and include toilets, hot showers, drinking water, and chemical disposal. Dogs welcome.
