Spring Lea Fishery is a cracking site for earnest anglers who can enjoy a blend of the serene Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and access to 5 well-stocked coarse fishing lakes. The compact, peaceful site rests just 6-miles from the buzzing, historic town of Shrewsbury, serving as a fine spot for urban explores, countryside rambles and fishing for all levels. The five pools - Kingfisher, Horseshoe, Mallard, Orfe and Trevors – brim with carp of all sizes (bigger ones weigh close to the 25lb mark), and other species like bream, tench, skimmer, orfe, roach, rudd and the occasional eel. Anglers can utilize a range of tactics, although float fishing is the most successful. The best baits are usually maggots, bread, corn, meat and pellets. Spring Lea firmly believes that the pleasures of fishing must be accessible to all, offering disabled access to the lakes. Cars may drive to the water’s edge for disabled anglers as long as ground conditions are favourable. The site provides nice flat grass pitches with optional electric hook-ups for tents and touring vehicles. Plots are spacious enough for stretching out and savouring the chilled out atmosphere. A little café on the premises makes full English breakfasts for a reasonable £4: 50, and other snacks. Enjoy lovely walks around the fishing pools, and feel free to bring along any cooped up canines at home.
