If you enjoy camping escapes with quick access to local amenities and food, make your way to The White Swan Camping and Caravan Site, a private, family-run campsite tucked away in the picturesque and peaceful village of Newton-Upon-Rawcliffe. The site lies nuzzled on the back of a friendly pub, a mere 4-miles’ from the town of Pickering, on the fringes of the Cropton forest in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The rolling greenery of the serene countryside gives way to the sandy beaches and azure waters of splendid coastal towns like Whitby and Scarborough; both located a smooth 30-minute drive away. Settle into your spacious grass pitch with optional electricity, and listen to the distant sounds of a steam train huffing along, intertwined with the trills of birdsong. The camping area looks out over scenic walking territory, and a few minutes on foot leads to a spectacular sweeping view over the mist-clad moors and forests of Newton dale and Levisham. Skeleton tower is visible in the distance as the steam train chugs from Pickering to Whitby at the base of the lush valley. There are six pitches with electricity and 30 non-electric plots, all set out on the grass. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome per pitch.
