Escape the drone of the rat race for sweeping vistas, green open spaces and a relaxing atmosphere at Grinton Lodge Youth Hostel. The peaceful site rests on the southern slopes of Swaledale, through which the sparkling river Swale flows, providing guests with exceptional views of the Yorkshire Dales and the surrounding scenery. The abode, Grinton Lodge, is an absolute beauty, a former 200-year-old gentleman’s hunting lodge positioned above Swaledale, affording breathtaking vistas from the rooms. Guests will notice many of the original period detail around the abode, including a set of antlers in the lounge and castellated walls. Many of the rooms sleep between 2 to 8 people, and while there are no ensuite showers, there are plenty to serve guests during the busiest seasons. The abodes and bathrooms are a steal of a deal for such budget-friendly prices, and the lack of an institutional feel ensure campers have a comfortable base to kick back and unwind after an active day. There is a self-catering kitchen, lounge areas, and a dining room for social breakfasts or cosy evenings. The site also has a series of wooden glamping pods on the campgrounds, sleeping up to 4 persons. Glampers can make use of the facilities inside the hostel too, which includes a complete meal service. Dogs are welcome.
