Reward your pupils with the sights of a tranquil narrow valley, edged by scree crags and lush woodland hugging to the vertical sides. The remaining flat ground serves as the base for your new home away from home – a simple patch of grass embracing a peaceful riverbank. Tranquillity remains unrivalled at this no-frills campsite, and the hum of the flowing water, birdsong, the wind dancing through the grass and a distant chiming of a church bell are the only sounds to disturb your mind. Let your eye wander approvingly over the surrounding outlines, and then let your feet do the wandering as you explore the five Wainwrights, located a mere mile from the campsite. Stonethwaite Campsite welcomes tents, small campervans and motorhomes on non-electric grass plots. Amenities are limited to a toilet block, washing up area, drinking water taps and chemical disposal. Pets are most welcome.
