Tanners Hatch Youth Hostel rests deep amid the lush greenery of the Surrey Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in National Trust managed woodland, in proximity to Polesden Lacey, a sprawling Edwardian estate and house. This is an excellent site for the weekend and short breaks from London, and the site also offers easy access to the Gatwick Airport. Unlike the more commercial sites with numerous amenities, gated entrances and a constant hum of activity, Tanners Hatch Youth Hostel is only accessible via foot or bike, making it an excellent site for campers who enjoy the scenery and open-air pursuits. A beautifully converted 17th-century cottage now houses adventuring sorts and offers self-catering stays with beautiful gardens for stretching out and strolling. Wood-burning barbeques and open fires are just the things for experiencing a traditional camping holiday, so go ahead and sit down for slow-cooked meals and sing-alongs around the campfire when the mood arises. The toilets and showers are in a separate building outside, and the abode comes with a self-catering kitchen, dining room, lounge, cycle store and drying room. Accommodation is provided in two dorms (6 and 7 beds respectively), one private double room, and two cracking two-bedroomed safari tents with space to sleep between 4-6 people. Pets are welcome.
