Traipse down a half-mile footpath from the crumbling remains of Bartinney Castle, and you’ll come to a beautiful little wild camping site named Wild Camping Cornwall. This splendid spot seems to have benefited from the Celtic Fire Festivals held many a moon ago at the castle, as Cornwall’s Penwith Peninsula is one of the sunniest corners of the British Isles. A handful of pitches paired with the pre-erected bell tent create the settings for a restful escape, complete with dozens of newly planted trees that will provide a pleasant sanctuary in the years to come. Amenities include a compost loo, a gas-powered shower and the comfort of a flickering campfire courtesy of a firepit (and a complimentary bag of logs) at each plot. Sorry, no pets are allowed on-site.
