Postern Hill Caravan Camping Site is a perfect space for getting away from it all, boasting an idyllic setting in the peaceful and leafy ancient Savernake Forest, with a delightful network of tracks and paths crisscrossing the enfolding area. Completely immerse the mind and soul in verdant woodlands, stretch out on generous, flat grass pitches with optional electric meters and savour the sights and sounds of a pristine area surrounded by the scenery of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A large portion of the Savernake Forest holds a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) registration. It boasts a flourishing collection of rare lichens, fungi, and wildlife, like Red-tail Kites, Nightjars, Redstarts, and Hawfinches. The site also is an ideal space to observe bats, with over 11 species known to visit the area. Leave your tent door open and watch as dusk gives way to the inky blackness of the night, and listen to the nocturnal creatures come to life. The camping area itself is flat with abundant leafy trees providing speckled shade and quiet corners for camping sorts who enjoy secluded camping settings. The owners would like to point out that there are no showers on-site; however, the nearest leisure centre, an estimated 1.5 miles away, provides hot showers at a reasonable rate. Well-behaved pets are welcome here.
