The buzzing town of Dingwall is a smooth half a mile away affording easy access to local facilities like shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. A number of trains head out from the town along stunning routes to Wick, Thurso and Kyle of Lochalsh. Nature lovers can explore the nature reserve of Ben Wyvis and spot exciting wildlife like pine martens, deer and the majestic golden eagle, which is the largest bird in the UK. Walking enthusiasts are spoilt for choice owing to a wealth of scenic trails crisscrossing the enclosing area. The Dingwall Heritage Trail meanders by the doorstep of the campsite, following the gleaming River Peffery to a picturesque picnic area in Cromarty Firth. Packed lunches and blankets are in order for a trek along the trail. Keep an eye out for playful dolphins while you munch on a delicious picnic feast in Cromarty, or amble over to the Black Isle to see red kites. Birdwatchers can observe ospreys, wildfowl and waders at Udale Bay. Head back to base to kick back on your pitch in the shade of a mature tree and sip on a cold drink as you survey the golden hues of a beautiful sunset.
