Birsay Outdoor Centre enjoys an excellent position within a stunning natural environment that is home to a wide range of flora and fauna. There is a hostel plus a spacious camping park offering guests the opportunity to camp under canvas, rumble in with a campervan, motorhome and caravan, or enjoy the perks of settling into a well-equipped hostel. The site serves as an excellent base for stunning coastal walks and offers easy access to the UNESCO awarded, 5,500-year-old Neolithic heartland in Orkney. Set on the borders of Birsay on the northwest portion of Orkney this friendly site functions as an excellent council-owned campsite attached to the Birdsay Hotel. Guests reserving a pitch are asked to pick out a pitch from the available plan, and an email confirmation is sent through to confirm the reservation. Most plots are on grass and guests are invited to request for hardstanding bases if required. Communal facilities are basic yet entire adequate and well-maintained. There are toilets, hot showers, a washing up area, laundry on-site, and drinking water points for the tents, caravans and motorhomes. The hostel was recently refurbished and provides three-star accommodation made of five bedrooms and sleeping space for 26 people in total. Dogs welcome
