Located 15 miles from Kirkwall and Stromness, Stonehigh is a peaceful and pretty camping space close to a beach with gorgeous views of the sparkling ocean and some of the most beautiful sunsets. The quiet sounds of the countryside provide a soothing soundtrack for the duration of your stay, and a variety of birdlife like kestrels, short-eared owls, and hens harries offer plenty for nature lovers of all ages to observe. Active types needn’t pout, as the area around this tidy and well-maintained site is perfect for walking and cycling. If you’re more of a let-me-drive-there sort, a handy bust route is a short stroll away. The pub about a mile away is in full swing on the weekend, and a small shop located the same distance away stocks camping essentials. Pets are welcome.
