A beautiful hostel located on Trumland Farm. Rousay Hostel and Campsite is a hostel and campsite set on a friendly organic working farm the lovely shores of the isle of Rousay. It was one of the first independent hostels built in Orkney in 1993 and now provides a camping area next to the hostel with access to communal hostel facilities. The hostel contains two upstairs dorms, one equipped with three sets of bunk beds and the other, the family room, comes finished with two sets of bunk beds. There is also a small single room which opens up to either dorm and provides nifty sleeping space for another guest. The ground floor features two shower rooms and a spacious, well-equipped kitchen for whipping up delicious meals and light snacks during your stay. Seasonal organic produce may be available for purchase at the time of your visit and are an excellent addition to your meals. Guests can use the campsite as a base for open-air pursuits ranging from archaeological adventures to hours of peaceful birdwatching, so be sure to pack in your walking shoes to make the most of your time in the “Egypt of the North”. Amble amid wildlife in the RSPB reserve or clamber among jagged cliffs for jaw-dropping views and the chance to observe seabirds like Guillemots and Fulmars. Head back to base to sleep under the stars or unwind in a cosy room.
