The friendly Eilean Fraoich Camp Site is a beautiful dog-friendly site set on the peaceful west coast of Lewis. Located in the idyllic village of Shawbost, Eilean Fraoich is a mere mile from the gleaming azure waters and soft sands of the shore and neighboured by a glittering freshwater loch. Campers can enjoy spectacular views out over the enclosing area. The hill of Beinn Bhragair overlooks the lovely camping area and the flat moors of central Lewis. The camping meadow is ideal for tent, campers, motorhomes and caravans so come on by with the family, set up camp and unwind to the scenic views and gentle lapping of waves on the Atlantic shore. The site first opened its doors to cheery campers from across the globe in 1992 and serves as an ideal base for island adventures. Operated by Iain and Mary Macaulay, the site is a peaceful spot for those who want to relax, roam and shake off the stress of modern life. The village of Shawbost is an old place that brims with standing stones, ancient pottery, Viking technology and a Bronze Age midden. Take a walk around the area to observe traditional activity like men cutting local hay or explore the rugged hills, and kick back at the lovely local beach. The wealth of lochs and lochans make Lewis a prime spot for trout fishing season.
