Runach Arainn

Arran may be a small island: however, it’s quite challenging to understand how such a remote retreat can offer so much. Hop on a ferry across the Firth of Clyde and enjoy the chilly ocean air swirling across the decks as the atmospheric island comes into view. The Runach Arainn glamping site rests on the southern portion of the nineteen-mile long island where mountains and rocks give way hills and meandering sandy beaches. Runach Arainn (which means secret Arran in Gaelic) is a family-operated site offering well-equipped Scottish made Yurts of both eighteen feet and twenty-foot diameters. The owners provide just three units set on the banks of Kilmory Water, within the grounds of an old rector’s house constructed in the 1600s. The larger yurts sleep up to six guests while the smaller one sleeps a total of four wanderers. Each fully-equipped unit comes furnished with everything a camper will need for a relaxed holiday including towels, bedding, cooking utensils and crockery. A cosy wood-burning stove and a substantial stack of logs enable guests to create a snug atmosphere on cold nights. Gaze up at the sparkling constellations at any time through the circular crown at the crest of the yurt. Fall in love with rural settings, uncover outstanding beaches and dine at homely pubs – what more could you want from a camping retreat?
