Expect a warm welcome on arrival from Andrew and Jane, cheery owners of the small yet beautiful Hawkrigg Camping and Caravan Site. Savour the natural beauty and abundance of wildlife from a delightfully secluded and peaceful position close to the Galloway Forest Park. Bring your cooped-up canine and let them bound around unhindered by a leash in select areas in the woods while the youngsters observe various woodland critters, including red squirrels. The adventurous types intrigued by deserted settlements can explore the old village ruins of Polmaddy, abandoned in the 19th century, or follow old mines from the village of Carsphairn to observe stunning vistas over the Galloway Hills. There are five hardstanding plots with electric meters and a grass area for tent users. Amenities include the standards like toilets, hot showers, drinking water taps, and chemical disposal.
