King Robert The Bruces Cave

Set on the historic grounds of Cove Manor House, King Robert The Bruces Cave is a family-run caravan and camping site. It houses a unique monument – an ancient cave that sheltered the fourteenth-century King Robert the Bruce for three months during the bleakest days of The Wars of Independence. Perfectly positioned just three miles north of the picturesque village of Gretna and the Scottish Borders, the park offers campers a delicious blend of seclusion, verdant wooded surrounds, and an abundance of wildlife. Wander from woodlands to riversides and enjoy hours of serene walking and cycling paths. Fishing enthusiasts need only take a three-mile trot to the nearest river for free river fishing. History buffs can take a nice walk to Bruce’s cave and explore the ancient cave. Once you’ve worked up an appetite head over to the Station restaurant within walking distance and enjoy excellent food at reasonable prices. The site also encourages barbeques so feel free to fire up the grill and get a sizzling barbie going. The site accommodates tents, caravans, and motorhomes. Shared facilities include toilet facilities, hot showers, washing up area, laundry, drinking water points, Wi-Fi access, chemical disposal and a shop on-site. Dogs are welcome.
