This spacious, adults-only site offers adventurers the chance to swap screen time and the schedules of urban life for the green, open spaces and wilds of Mid-Wales, with easy access to open-air pursuits that are sure to suit outdoorsy types of all persuasions. The friendly site rests in an idyllic location between Machynlleth's buzzing market town and the looming Cader Idris Mountain, with glorious beaches to the west and numerous tourist sites peppered all around. Guests are advised to bring along a vehicle to get about, especially if a packed itinerary is on the cards. Gwalia Farm is not a luxury, high-density site packed with a range of creature comforts. Essential facilities that many may consider indispensable for a comfortable stay are omitted in favour of a no-frills, traditional camping feel. There are no cooking facilities, on-site amusements and cafes dishing out refreshments. There are no nightlights (perfect for stargazing), and there is no shower: however, guests are welcome to pay £1 to access the washroom in the house, shared by the bed and breakfast guests. Campfires are encouraged, and well-behaved pets are most welcome.
