Dyfed Shire Horse Farm is a friendly, small family-run campsite nestled on a working farm, just six miles from Newport's buzzing city. The site enjoys a prime position at the foot of Preseli Mountains and enjoys a stunning position in a pristine part of Wales, famed for its scenic coastal walks, crumbling castles, ancient forts and family attractions. The Lewis family have run the site since 1849, and are at hand to welcome guests and show them around. As the name suggests, the farm is home to magnificent shire horses that can be seen on a farm tour at no added cost. The owners also operate a small visitor attraction on-site. Gather the nippers and head out for tractor rides, horse-drawn carriage rides, and birds of displays in the busy summer months. The small ones can burn pent up energy as they whizz around the roomy play area or the well-equipped indoor soft play area. The camping area rests within a secluded, secure paddock in West Wales, a mere six miles from stunning coastal paths and inviting beaches in Newport and Poppit Sands. A farm café next to the play area serves up hot and cold food – perfect for days you'd prefer to let someone else do the cooking. A well-stocked shop sells essentials for barbeques and ice pack freezing is ideal for those sweltering summer days. Pets welcome.
