Offas Dyke in Mid Wales
Experience the Offa's Dyke Walks in Wales. The Wales Calling website details this entire famous walk which you can do over 12 days or even as little stages. It is a long distance foot pathwhich stretches for 178 miles, from from Sedbury Cliffs in the North of Wales to Prestatyn on the southern border. The footpath approximately follows the line of the barrier. The path follows From round about Chepstow to near Chirk Castle above the River Dee, the path follows the still visible portion for about sixty miles. The Offa's Dyke Path National Trail is the only one of these routes to be based on a man-made rather than a natural feature.

From its northern tip at Aberllefenni to Corris in the south, this 1.5 mile walk passes through some delightful areas including some Sites of Special Scientific Interest and offers stunning views of old slate quarries and the imposing Cadair Idris. The Welsh slate industry was once renowned throughout the world. From the roofs of British households to billiard tables, classroom blackboards and even castles, these dark Welsh slabs had scores of practical uses. Walkers to the Northern Mid Wales area are now able to witness the changes the industry brought, both to the landscape and communities that supported it, thanks to a series of themed slate walks.

Four Wells RamblersThe Four Well Ramblers are based in Mid Wales in the area bounded by the Powys Spa towns of Llandrindod, Builth, Llanwrtydd and Llangamarch Wells. These ramblers will walk on alternate Saturdays in areas of outstanding natural beauty including. Hafren Forest
Due to the reforestation effort that began in the 1930's, Hafren Forest now covers a might 40 square kilometres. This beautiful forest surrounded by a once distant moorland that is a preserve only to sheep and deserted lead mines. The river's source, which is easily accessible from the forest, is also the starting point for Britain longest riverside walk along the Severn Way
