Newark Farm

Set on a working beef and sheep farm Newark Farm campsite is a lovely, friendly campsite set within the picturesque settings of the village of Sanquhar which boasts of an indoor pool, shops, hotels, and several excellent food shops and butchers. Easily accessible from the main road, the working farm is well cared for and is an ideal place for the little ones to make friends with the animals on-site and even help the owners' bottle-feed baby lambs. The farm was built in the 1800 and offers guests beautiful vistas of the lush valley of the sparkling River Nith which is a hotspot for fishing enthusiasts owing to a thriving population of salmon and trout. History buffs can take a short trot to a thirteenth-century monastery to take a peek at the papal seal from 1223 and the Florian Cross dating back to 600 AD. Head further down the field for a look at the old hospital that once housed lepers followed by a pleasant picnic in the shade of a 400-year-old tree. Beware of the two ghosts that reputedly haunt the crumbling remains of Sanquhar Castle which was seized by Sir Willian Douglas during the Wars of Independence. Pop into the village of Sanquhar to explore the oldest post office in the world dating back to 1712 or hit off a tee at the extensive golf course. The site caters to a variety of budgets, group sizes and travel needs. Guests can opt for the bed and breakfast lodgings, self-catering accommodations, or the certified caravan park.
