The hostel rests in secluded woodland on the grounds of the YHA Hawkshead, a mere mile from the sleepy village of Hawkshead, looking out over the shimmering and peaceful Esthwaite Water. Sandwiched between Windermere and Coniston Water, this family-friendly grade II listed Regency-style building is an excellent base for exploring the wealth of attractions in the Southern Lakes. Hawkshead Youth Hostel offers a sheer variety of accommodation that surpasses even YHA standards. Guests can opt to book the standard dorm beds and private rooms in the hostel or amp up the luxury by hiring tipis, glamping pods, and cabins. Tent campers are also welcome to pitch up here and enjoy the picturesque scenery. There are two tipis furnished with bedding with sleeping space for four, eight camping pods and a large cabin with space for six adventurers. There is a large lounge area, dining room, self-catering kitchen, and a games room, among many amenities. These facilities are open to campers and guests who book one of the hostel’s accommodations.
