It has been a pleasure to drive Johns campervan. We have enjoyed a weekend break through the Peak District. Even though the weather was horrible, we spent a great time driving and being relaxed in the camper. It drives very well and the inside is brilliant.John was very helpful and nice so I really recommend to hire his campervan.

We rented Alans van so we can independently drive around Scotland and in addition it was our first experience in a camper van together as a couple. The place where Alan lives is quite a bit outside Aberdeen, so we used a taxi to go there (and also to come back). If you do the same then expect about 40-50£ extra (in total) for that, plus some time to get there. When we arrived Alan gave us a thorough introduction into the van usage. This was great. Even better is the fact that he wrote an easy-to-read manual with explanatory pictures, so whenever we were stuck or could not remember his introduction, we could simply read it up. If you (the reader) think of hiring a different van and are not experienced with the model, ask whether they hand out such a manual, because otherwise wed really rather recommend to go with Alan.About the van:The van was great. The model is new, the driving feeling was superb, the car was shining clean when we got it. Like Alan we highly recommend to rent this van for at most two people (or two people and a babyvery young kid) - the van offers 4 places to sleep, but if it rains outside and youre stuck, space is an issue. The sun can be blocked almost 100%, and the setup for that is trivial. The bed on the roof is the comfier one, but it can feel a bit cold. We had no problem, but the material is not wind-proof when the roof is up, so we this is our assumption. The seats in the back can also be turned into a bed, which was not bad, but the lack of a mattress makes it likely to sleep on some parts that will make your sleep a bit uncomfortable. The kitchen is sufficiently equipped and does its job as needed. We had the fridge on all the time, it has no huge drain on the battery life. There is also a heating system which we used every now and then (mainly when we had electricity at a camp site), it was easy to use and kept us warm when needed. The built-in TV we only used once with our USB hard drive - so we say nothing, just mention there is one ;). The toilet is good, but due to lack of space, if you gotta do 2, you probably want your traveling partner to leave the van completely for a while => we didnt make use of that option. Unlike real caravans, the toilet is not in a completely separate room, so we assume that smell is an issue in that case. The only annoying thing for us was the alarm, because we didnt know that well how to turn it off while we were camping. We are confident the next revision of Alans manual will have an extensive section about that, so I doubt this will be a problem for future renters. All in all we were happy with the car and would rent it again. Unlikely that we visit Scotland again anytime soon, but we can recommend the van.The owner (Alan):Alan was super nice. Like - really. He took all the time needed to answer our questions and to show us all he could think about the van. He gave personal advice on usage, route suggestions, etc.In the last night, the internal lighting system stopped working. We have no idea why. Also we managed to break a small piece that left the "toilet door" unstable. And maybe there was something else, we dont remember, but when we reportedconfessed these things to Alan, he said the lighting is not our fault and the broken piece he waved away as standard usage and not a biggie - we got back the full deposit. All in all: also Alan is a great ... "carlord"(?) and we can fully recommend doing business with him.The trip:we took the van from Aberdeen to Inverness, slept there at a camping site, moved further to castle Urquhuart (stopping for some Highland Games on the road) and then turned to the Isle of Skye, where we stayed on a parking lot close to the Old Man of Storr for the night. Next day, after hiking to the old man, we continued around the Isle, came back to the main land and stayed again on a camping site close to Fort Augustus. Last day we steered back towards Aberdeen, but our campsite of choice was not open anymore for us and in the end we ended up in the same camp site of the first night ;)In the aftermath wed suggest other renters to alternate between visiting campsites and sleeping next to the road. Maybe even 2 nights in a row on the road (not longer to make sure the battery wont discharge). Make sure to have the last night on a camp-site so you can clean out the toilet.Summary: 1010 from us for this experience.

We had a fab time in Grape for our short stay in Suffolk. Our first experience of a Camper Van which was great from the very beginning with booking and communications with Mark who was very accommodating and friendly and made all all appear easy with how Grape all worked. Grape had everything we needed for our stay; super cosy and great space saving functionality. Will definitely consider hiring Grape again and using Camperbug.co.uk.

We are from Germany and as we got invited to a wedding in Manchester, we thought we could combine it with a road trip afterwards to and around Scotland - so we rented Big Yeller. The booking process via Camperbug was not very self explanatory, but Bryan the Van rental person helped us and everything went smooth in the end.Bryan was very helpful throughout, as this was our first road trip with a camper van and we didnt know what to expect and what needed to be organized by us beforehand.Bryan answered all our questions within a few hours and not longer than a day. So this also made us feel more secure as we had just sent a lot of money to a company person, we had never heard before.Bryan in the meantime swapped us to another Van named "Lil Tango", which he had just converted into a new Camper Van.This was absolutely fine for us, also we now also had a brand new Van to start our road trip. When picking up the Van, everything went smoothfully too. Bryan gave us a introduction but had also sent a description of everything via email beforehand, so that if we wouldnt remember everything, we could easily read it again. He also offered assistance via telephone if we would need it during our trip. Lil Tango was very reliable, clean, thoughtfully furnished and cozy. We had a brilliant time!Bryan had put a lot of effort and love into the Van and you could see that in many details (camper chairs, USB adapter, Cutlery, cushion etc. all in orange , touch lights inside, pre-heater with thermometer for cold nights and many more). We can only recommend Bryan and his Vans to everybody and wishing him all the best!Christiane & Timo

We hired DylanGreen through CamperBug. The service from the owners was first class, from the moment we registered our interest on CamperBug through collection, use and return of the Campervan. The campervan was in superb condition with all the items we needed for our weekend break in Anglesey. It was a pleasure to drive and we had lots of admiring comments. Great service from people who love their classic vehicles! We would recommend using this service.

I hired Joni for a three night trip to the Pembrokeshire coast, my first time in a camper van. Overall it was a wonderful experience which Ill have fond memories of, it felt like a real adventure especially doing the trip in a classic VW camper. Joni has been maintained in excellent condition and although she was challenging to drive at first, because Ive only driven modern vehicles with power steering and synchromesh transmission, etc, I took it very steady and got used to the handling differences during the drive.Mike was a very pleasant chap to deal with and very kindly allowed me flexibility on the pick up and drop back times as there werent other hires immediately before or after mine.

Had a fantastic time. The owners took us through the basics when we collected the van and we got set up really quickly and easily. Everything we needed was to hand. Simple instructions which made for an easy and stress-free trip away. The kids loved it too. Collection and drop-off very straightforward and flexible. Strongly recommend!

We had a great time with our 5 year old twins at the Green Man festival. The van exceeded our expectations, easy and quick to drive and park. We paid extra for the inflatable awning which was enormous and for us definitely worth it (we set up tables and chairs and kept all our bags and shoes in it).The layout was brilliant, in fact better than a mortohome we hired a couple of years ago, we seemed to have lots of space. The in-built storage was genius. We were surprised about the size of the bed (downstairs)- so much wider than you’d think. I’m a bad sleeper but slept really well and was very comfortable. The kids were very comfortable in the roof bed too. We liked it so much we are now looking to buy one with the same design. Only thing missing for me was a digital radio but we could live without it!

I hired Barbara Thelma for a long weekend for a 50th birthday surprise.I could not fault the owners Simon and AnneMarie, swift and friendly communication and they added some nice little extra touches that were greatly appreciated and very thoughtful they really added to the experience. We had a fabulous time touring Scotland and took Babs as she came to be known to see the Kelpies and the Wheel in Falkirk, through the Trossocks up to Inverness then back down to Fort William. She was an experience and a pleasure to drive and should we want to do this again I wouldn’t hesitate to use this van and her owners again

Wonderful experience both renting and using Bluebell.J was really helpful all the way through and really welcoming when we went to collect Bluebell.Bluebell drove beautifully for such an old girl and having the pop-up roof was a godsend for comfort (we had previously rented a modern VW and found the bending down all the time a real pain).Bluebell was comfy and exactly what we needed. We didnt use the cooking facilities so cannot comment on those. Can say there was plenty of storage for our stuff.Overall a great experience and would highly recommend.

From 1st contacting the hirer to picking the camper up, was easy and a pleasure. On collecting the camper we were fully shown round and told how everything works, it was clean, well presented and had everything anyone could wantThe camper drove perfect, cruised effortlessly on the motorway and had all the power you could need Once we arrived at site it was easy to park, the cookeroven worked perfectly and the fixed bed was SO comfy. There is plenty of storage inside the camper, plenty of space and the additional space in the garage really does add to the experienceAnyone wanting to rent a camper, either for a couple or a family - look no further !! We rented Begbie for five days over the August bank holiday weekend. mark was brilliant in the run up, answering questions and letting us know everything we needed to about Begbie for our trip. We had one question while we were away and he got back to us straight away so I can’t say enough about how great he was. Begbie was a lovely van and we felt right at home with him. He has everything we needed for our trip and we were very happy to have somewhere warm and dry to sleep as the weather wasn’t brilliant. He is a left hand drive which took a bit of getting used but otherwise was a fun drive. We’d definitely rent Begbie again. Thanks Mark!

We rented Patricks camper "Meghan" and we were extremely pleased with the entire experience. Patrick was highly communicative and clearly passionate about classic VWs and campers. Meghan is the result of his passion, and combines classic style with carefully integrated modern touches that made our trip even better than we expected. The built-in sat nav, solar energy and clever sinkstove setup make this THE camper to rent. Not to mention an upgraded engine, better brakes and power steering. Thanks for a great trip, Patrick and Meghan!

We hired Floydd for a 3 night trip. Our first ever experience of a campervan. We were met by Debs who showed us around the van, letting us know how to operate everything and providing us with the front seat mattress. We found the van to be easy to drive and the sleeping area easy to set up. The 2 kids, 7 and 11 slept in the pop up, and we slept downstairs. We used the front seat mattress as extra padding on the rear seats which form the bed. Im 64" and with the drivers seat pushed forward and tilted i was able to sleep ok which i was a little concerned about given my height. The van was clean inside and its a good looking van when you return to it in the car park.We stayed at a different camp site each night of our trip and the van was easy to set up each daynight.Thank you to Debs and to Floydd for our first campervan experience which we all really enjoyed.

Jennifer is a Wonderful Van!!I hired Jennifer for a weekend for a Birthday surprise for my girlfriend and it was amazing. We had a fantastic time and our baby daughter has never slept better than in this van! She loved being in the van!Jennifer is an authentic 80s van and she has so much charm and comfort, it was a pleasure to drive her around. Being an 80s van she doesn’t have power steering but this just added to the fun.She was very clean and tidy on pick-up, and had everything we needed for our weekend. Using the tables and bed was easy and Matt’s online videos made it a great reference point while on the road. The hire was fantastic value for money and I found the hire cost cheaper than other similar vans.We really couldn’t find fault with the whole hire experience.Matt and Carolyn were so helpful and easy to deal with, they did all they could to help make the surprise a success and I am very appreciative of their help. Thank you guys!!I would recommend hiring Jennifer to anyone, she was so much fun for my family but also dealing with Matt and Carolyn made the whole experience so brilliant.
