We had a brilliant time with Fred in Norfolk. Hes in great condition and the kids loved the enclosed roof sleeping compartment. The van has everything you need on board and also has a good fridge which meant there was always fresh milk for a morning cuppa. Fred got lots of admiring glances during the week and a lot of waves from other VW owners of course!

We rented Simba for 2 days and what we can definitely say is that we wish we had Simba for much longer! SImba was a total treat to drive with the addition of several luxuries. We drove her from Yorkshire to Aviemore, Scotland for a Mumford and Sons concert. Simba was the envy of all the other campers and music-goers. We constantly had people stopping by to check her out.
The bed was easy enough to fold out, comfortable and warm despite "warm" scottish summers. There was sufficient storage for 2 of us and the owner had supplied all the necessary accessorieskitchenware.
We fell in love with Simba and would definitely look to hiring her again whenever we are thinking of doing another road trip.

Great little van with extremely comfy roofbed (we didnt use the rock and roll bed so cannot comment on it). Chris explained how everything worked ensuring we were happy before we left and giving us a written guide to help us if necessary. We were offered the use of all the vans equipment, outdoor chairs and table, cooking pots, crockery and cutlery, plus the cycle rack which we declined at the last minute as we felt it may have made life difficult dealing with a cycle on our first camper van outing! We had a brilliant time and would fully recommend Chris and his van.

We had a great time in Daisy - shes a real head turner! Kept in very good condition and the owners gave us a good introduction to her - they even gave us complimentary cream teas in the van which was a lovely touch. Daisy is well kitted out for all your needs and we had a really good week away touring Cornwall in her. Would recommend Daisy very much and would definitely hire her again. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful camper with us.

Bongo Billy was our first experience of a campervan holiday and, although the weather for our stay was disappointing, Billy was a great success. Its very well appointed internally and is easy and enjoyable to drive. Theres a choice of outside kit, too, which you can specify before you leave so you can extend your campsite footprint according to size of your party.

Owner Mark was a great help and was always on the end of a phone to answer with any setup queries - and, being absolute beginners, we had a few! Im sure more seasoned campervanners wont need this backup but its reassuring to know you can tap into Marks expertise should you need to.

Certainly a holiday with a difference for us - just what we wanted!

We hired Blossom1973 for the weekend. We were extremely delighted when we met her. She is beautiful inside and out. Everything you would need for a short trip away is provided and with such attention to detail. I also loved that fact that everything was colour coordinated in purple, it was obvious that a lot of love and effort had gone into restoring her and making her a pleasure to camp in. We have recommended her and her owner to friends and will definitely be using her again! Such fun!!!

It was not really appropriate to navigate on the water of the Loch Ness (we didn’t try it?) but it was fantastic to ride on the littles roads of the countryside and to discover the beauty of Scotland.

Just returned from a lovely weekend at West Wittering in Fred. My daughter, friend and I had a real laugh and thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the Campervan in the evening playing Scrabble, enjoying the simple things in life! I was proud of myself for persevering with the gears and for driving Fred on the busy M3 roadworks!! Thanks to Chris and Amanda for a professional handover and for the test drive.

Our CamperBug experience with Archie was amazing. Richard our host was amazingly helpful, friendly and patient with us. The van itself was perfect for our family of 4 and provided a brilliant base for our weekend in North Devon. Id highly recommend both CamperBug and Archie for anyone thinking about renting a campervan.

We hired this lovely VW California to take to a festival wedding with our 18 month old daughter, it was perfect and made the experience all that more special. The van was very easy to drive and had so many little space saving ideas and thoughtful touches. You can tell VW spent a lot of time designing these vans, hard to beat in a T5 conversion. We slept in the pop-top bed which was very comfortable. The couple that own the hire are great too, answered every question - couldnt ask more.

We hired Cruz to take to Glastonbury and were not disappointed with our choice. I found the website easy to search and there was plenty of choice of vans in our area. Arranging the booking was smooth and the owners, Nathan and Suzanne were great with reminders and explaining arrangements. The van was great - clean, comfortable, easy to drive, spacious and had everything we needed. We got quick responses to questions we had while we were away. And it seemed good value for money compared to what some friends had paid for vans from big companies. All in all we would use the site and hire this van again.

Dear camperbug,

Please find a few words outlining our experience from booking through to the end of the holiday.

Camperbug searchbooking etc.:

The experience of finding a suitable and available camper was made easy by your site, there were so many options and different locations to enable me to plan the perfect hire location. There are that many websites options out there, some being a closed shop (I.e using their own fleet) and many sole traders, which I found to be so taxing when initially trailing through one by one.... Before stumbling on your site.

The enquiry function was easy to use albeit a bit laborious when messaging the owner to and thro. Was a bit confused during the booking process as to who I pay for what. However I did feel secure booking the deposit booking fee through the site, would also like the option of paying the full hire through the site.

Overall the booking experience did the trick and was easy enough

Pick up:
As a total novice in the world of camper vans and also hiredrive holidays I wasnt sure what to expect....it may be worthwhile providing some guidance on what to look for and what checks to make etc. (you may already have this but if so I missed it). I would imagine a sample checklist including a visual inspection record for ownerhirer would be useful for both customers and the hirers.

General comments on Holiday:

Firstly Id say the break was the best weve had, even contending with the likes of Disney world. The holiday was a surprise for my wife and kids, which gained me enough daddy husband points to last the year (maybe two). The kids absolutely loved Connie the camper as soon as they heard the distinctive horn when I pulled up. The excitement continued to grow and grow the more they explored, especially after realising they were sleeping in the roof!!

The owners were extremely helpful and thorough during pickup, leaving me with a short how to guide. Giving me piece of mind that I wouldnt press the wrong nobbutton t the wrong time. They were also really accommodating during the booking payment process helping me keep it as a surprise from my wife who holds the purse strings!

Connie herself was immaculate and a real head turner, she was a dream to drive and other than a few early morning coughs, did not give us any problems. At the end of the hol we all struggled giving her back, the kids opting to write a big thank you letter to Connie herself. I cant count the number of amazing memories we made in such a short time and we have some great pics (attached). I suppose my only complaint is that it will now be the most expensive holiday Ive had.... As Im now trawling auto trader for a new camper of our own!
